Greetings,
I have a question regarding the impact of "unprotected" VMs once a recovery plan is initiated.
We are using Array protection with a Netapp Snapmirror NFS protection.
Snapmirror handles the replication of VM files for us.
There are 2 unique NFS volumes protected.
corpbotNFS01
corptopNFS01
The DR site has corresponding volumes
drsbotNFS01
drstopNFS01
There are 3 current recovery plans configured.
Only corpbotNFS01
Only corptopNFS01
All Volumes
They are self explanatory as to their purpose.
My question is as such.
There are 10 VMs running in CorptopNFS01.
If I set all but one to "unprotected" and failover, what is the impact of this?
Can I easily place the others back in protected and failover if necessary?
Would any actions be restricted if only the DR site is available?
What we are trying to accomplish is a hypothetical scenario where we have a failure of the majority of our datacenter but not entire and HA/FT is not an option because enough of the datacenter has failed that we do not have adequate resources.
I know....its pretty far fetched.
I just need to know if in this scenario, could we add machines back to protected and failover if needed?
