Multiple Site Recovery Manager - Multiple Recoverpoint clusters - Single vCenter 6.5 Instance
Hi,
I wonder if anyone has a similar experience or have found correct documentation to achieve a configuration like here below described:
#3 Sites (A - B - DR)
PROD (A - B)
Single vCenter Instance: 6.5 (manage two sites A - B - MAN connected)
#2 vSphere Clusters
#2 SRM 8.1 Instances: each one manage one cluster
#2 Recoverpoint clusters: each one replicate one of above mentioned cluster on a DR site
(DR)

#1 SRM 8.1 Instance
#Recoverpoint Cluster: that receive replicas from both sites (A - B)

Questions:
- Is the design valid? I thik it falls under multisite SRM and multisite Recoverpoint designs
- Can a single vCenter manage multiple Storage Replication Adapters bounded to different SRM? (A - B Sites)

SRM 6.5 FAILING TO PAIR
Hi, i am failing to pair my SRM, i get the error "srm 6.5 cannot complete a pair operation. the reason is: <unset property>" cause: cannot complete login due to incorrect username or password.
although i am entering the correct username and password to login to vcenter of the site i am trying to pair with.
i have uninstalled and reinstalled SRM and the embedded database on the servers on both sites
i have deleted and recreated the SRM servers at both sites - for good measure.
what else can i do to rectify this??

Difference between Priority groups and Dependencies
Hi all,
While designing the SRM environment, I encountered a confusion. What is the difference between Priority groups and dependencies in SRM. As I understand, priority groups are definedto segregate each set of VMs to be Powered OFF/Powered ON sequence during Disaster Recovery and dependencies are defined to Power OFF/Power ON the VMs in the sequence if there is any dependencies between the applications/VMs. My question. What is the difference between putting 5 VMs in 5 different priority groups and putting 5 VMs in same priority group & defining the sequence of Power OFF/Power ON in the way we wanted?

MSCS / HA and SRM
Hi all,
We currently have a physical file server (MSCS) and want to virtualize it. I know VMWare guest clustering is supported with some caveats so this is the approach we would look to take as from what I gather this provides "more" than VMWare HA and/or VMotion. Is this correct?
I wanted to double check that an MSCS virtual cluster would work with SRM also (as we plan to implement a DR site also). Is the only criteria here a shared subnet?

independent failover of protection groups
I've created two protection groups in my SRM (6.5.1). The protection groups contain separate datastore groups and separate virtual machines. I've created two different recovery plans. Each recovery plan has one of the protection groups in it so that I could fail them over separately. I presume that would be okay correct? I could failover one protection group to the recovery site while the other protection group remains running at the protected site without impact. I'd assume this is possible but wanted a sanity check before I attempted it.

New SRM powercli cmdlets introduced in 6.5 should be executed from protected vCenter or recovery vCenter.
Our organization is mainly in to disaster recovery. We mainly manage the DR environment and Prod is managed by customer themselves,SRM is one of the technologies used for DR.
Hence we do not have required access on protected sites.
We have been planning to automate SRM tasks using powercli like fetching reports for protection group, protected VM status but by connecting from recovery site. I have observed that API called using powercli contacts vCenter MOB for any information. In this scenario if you need to fetch appropriate results one can connect to recovery site and get the desired results or we must connect via protected site and execute the required scripts.
When i execute Get-SRMProtectedVM I do not get the necessary details and I keep getting error along with the output as listed below. I was under a impression I would get VM name too but that does not seem to be the case.

Virtual machine already protected
Hi
Team has failed to unprotect the VM while migrating between datastore. Currently the VM on new protection group while trying to enable the protection throws error message " The virtual machine is already protected " .
VM is not available in any other protection group and recovery plan. I have noticed VM attribute "SRM-com.vmware.vcDr:::protected vm-38570 Global" .
How can remove SRM protected value to re enable the SRM

Error 25133 when trying to upgrade to SRM 8.1
Hello,
I'm at the tail end of completing an upgrade from SRM/SRA 5.5.1 to 8.1 but am getting an error when installing SRM 8.1 The error message is:
"Error 25133: VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager service failed to start. Check that all required Windows services are running. View the server log for more information."
I've checked all the dependent services and they are running. There doesn't seem to be any information on this error message. The SRM log is attached. Nothing in there stands out to me (or Google for that matter). Not sure what other logs I can check. Thanks!

SRM 6.5.1 - 2 site pairs. Upgrade one pair to SRM 8.1 possible?

We have 4 vCenters running 6.5 U1 in ELM
Running vSphere replication and SRM 6.5.1 in a 2 separate site pairs
If we upgrade one of the site pairs from 6.5.1 to 8.1 can the other pair continue to work on 6.5.1 or do they all need upgrading at the same time?

Does SRM support Single protected site with Two recovery sites?
I have single protected site and a recovery site with vCenter 6.0 and SRM 6.1 at each site.
Protected Site A ----> Recovery site B
VC_A + SRM_A1 VC_B + SRM_B
We plan to setup additional Recovery site C. As SRM only supports point-to-point replication and each VM can only be protected a single time/by a single SRM pair.
1) Do I need to setup additional SRM in Protected site A to form another SRM pair between site A and C?
Protected Site A ----> Recovery site C
VC_A + SRM_A2 VC_C + SRM_C
2) Would it be possible to create two sets of protection group for a VM between Site A and B and; Site A and Site C?
i) VM_PG_A_to_B Protected Site A ----> Recovery site B
ii) VM_PG_A_to_C Protected Site A ----> Recovery site C

Hi, we're implementing SRM on existing infrastructure. Client has Storage Array on protected site using Netapp, then the recovery site will use Dell Compellent. Is SRM will work with different Brand of Storage?

consistency group missing from protection group
We use SRM with RecoverPoint. vCenter is the appliance and its 6.5, SRM is 6.5, and RecoverPoint is 5.1. This configuration was working appropriately several weeks ago. We have virtual machines that live in two different consistency groups in RecoverPoint. One consistency group for the operating system and than another consistency group that contains the data drive which happens to be an rdm. When you go to the virtual machine at the protected site and select the EMC VSI selection you can see the consistency groups the virtual machine is a part of, which should be two, and the protection group that it is part of and all the consistency groups that are part of the protection group. A few weeks ago I would see both consistency groups and be able to select a consistency group and browse the snapshots and select a point in time recovery. Presently, I only see one consistency group. Also for the protection group I don't see the consistency group that the rdm (data drive) is part of. Just a few weeks ago the consistency groups were showing up appropriately and I could select the point in time from the consistency group where the rdm resides so I don't know what has happened. When I look at the virtual machines in the protection group there are no errors and they are properly protected. I can select configure protection for one of the vm's and see the rdm is there and properly protected. I can also execute a test of a recovery plan and the entire virtual machine, including the rdm, fails over to the recovery site. The problem I'm having is that we need to be able to do a point in time recovery and since the consistency group isn't showing up I can't set that. I've rebooted the SRM servers and vCenter servers. I"ve also uninstalled and reinstalled the EMC VSI plugin to both vCenters. In RecoverPoint there are no errors and all consistency groups are in sync. Nothing has been changed in our environment in regard to this consistency group either. Any ideas. I've opened a case, but I figured I'd post here also.

Reconfiguring Resource Mappings. Changing Clusters
What is the best way to change clusters (resource) mapping on a running vSphere Replication/SRM 8.1 setup? We have a new cluster coming online at the recovery site and would like to point the replications at it. It looks like SRM will allow you to simply change the mapping though I don't have the cojones to do that.
A couple other ideas include
- adding new hosts to what would be an EVC cluster, maintenance mode and remove legacy hosts. That would remove the need for a new cluster
- Export Site Recovery configuration, break site pair, reconfig for new cluster and restore. (seems wobbly).
Any thoughts?

SRM（バージョン6.5）でリカバリプランを作成し、リカバリプランの実行（フェールオーバー）を実行するスクリプト（PowerCLI）を作成したいのですが
リカバリタイプのオプションを指定する方法がわかりません。
スクリプト自体は下記サイトを参考に作成しています。
上記サイトの場合、「$plan.Start($mode)」実行時に別の変数を組み込むようにすると思うのですが
こちらに関して説明されているサイトがほぼない為、質問をさせていただきました。
どなたかご存知の方がいらっしゃいましたらご教示いただけますでしょうか。

Different vCenter edditions in SRM environment
Hello All,
can I use different vCenter editions in SRM environment, SRM version will be 8.1 for both sites, and I will use vCenter 6.5 standard at the protected site and vCenter 6.5 foundation at the recovery, is this scenario possible??
