SRM array based Multi site Configuration with array pair recoverpoint sra

Hello,

I need help for configuring my environnement.

I have on my protected site 3 Array unity with 3 recoverpoint appliance, replicated volums on the secondary site with recovepoint and one vnx 5800.

I have already installed on each site one VCenter and SRM VM.

Now, i was able to create "array pair" with one unity and vnx 5800, but i can't  do the same job for the other unity and the vnx 5800

Can someone have an idea?

Components versions:

Vcenter 6.7,

SRM 8.1

Recoverpoint SRA 2.2.3

SRM+vSphere Replication+Reprotect Process

Hello

This is the scenario, vSphere Replication to replicate VMs from site A to B, VMs protected with SRM

When a recovery plan is executed, VMs are switched over and then we can reprotect the VMs to reverse de replication and protection, so now the recovey site becomes protected site and viceversa.

During the reprotection process the data of the VMs that were in the old protected site seems to get deleted (new recovery site) , so vpshere replication is going to start a initial sync from the  new protected site to the new recovery site.

I would like to confirm:

Is the VM data in the old protected site (new recovery site) actually deleted from the datastore during the reprotection?

if it gets completely deleted, Is there anything that can be done in SRM to use the information of the VM in the old protected site (new recovery site after recovery plan) as seeds instead deleting it and start an intial sync during the reprotection? so replication takes less time for huge VMs

Any help to understand a little bit better what SRM+Reprotec does would be appreciated

Thank you, regards

Upgrade 6.0 to 6.5, various incompatibilities

Present versions:  ESXi is 6.0 U3 (build 7967664); vCenter is 6.0 Update 1b (build 3339083); SRM is 6.1.0.11034.  Obviously, I need to update, but I'm confused by something on the product interoperability matrix.  It looks like there is a big break at SRM 6.1.2 and vCenter 6.0 U3 - basically, that vCenter 6.0U3 doesn't support any SRM less than 6.1.2, but 6.0U2 doesn't support anything greater than SRM 6.1.1, and vCenter 6.5 needs SRM 6.5 - there would appear to be no way to step up though the upgrades.

So, is the upgrade path as follows?

- Upgrade vCenter to 6.5 and just accept that SRM will stop working?

- then upgrade ESXi to 6.5, and keep praying you won't need to use SRM?

- finally, upgrade SRM to at least 6.5, hoping that the upgrade works?

Am I missing something?

Operation Failed Timed out waiting for VMware Tools after 300 seconds - SRM 8.2

Hey guys

Haven't touched SRM for a long time and having first look at SRM 8.2
Can someone tell me how I can set the VMware tools timeout on a global scale?
Pretty sure this was possible in the earlier versions.
Also don't seem to have option to do it on a per VM basis.
Maybe I am overlooking something

Duplicate IP Address

Hi All,

I have an odd issue with my SRM virtual appliance v8.3.1.

It's been running for a month already without any issues when suddenly it lost network connectivity. I did spend a lot of time troubleshooting and I don't see any misconfiguration at all. Interface, routes and services are all good.

I tried bringing down the interface and bringing it up again, and while it is in the process of bringing the interface up, it complained about duplicate IP address in the network. The interface went up anyways. I'm pretty sure the IP address assigned to this SRM is not being used somewhere in my network.

Does anyone have experience this issue? Could be a bug with this version?

Thanks,

SRM+vSphere Replication+Reprotect takes long time

Hello

This is the scenario, vSphere Replication to replicate VMs from site A to B, VMs protected with SRM and one VM is big

When a recovery plan is executed site B becomes the protected site, then we reprotect the VMs and site A becomes the new recovery site, during the reprotection of the VMs the replication is reversed  and the state of the VM changes to initial sync, this process with VMs that are big takes long time, in my case up to two days.

So, supposing the application hosted in the VMs does not work and we want to move the VMs back to the original protected site (A), The reprotect process fails becuase it times out due the initial sync takes longer that 4 hours and I do not rememer what is the status of the VM in the recovery plan but I belive it becomes green since it is protected and just the initial sync is running. I have not tried but I wonder.

Is is possible to try a recovery plan even thoguht the VM is still running its initial sync after reprotecting it?

I would guess not a supported one but Is there any other option to move the VMs back without waiting for its initial sync to finish?

Thanks in advance, regards

I have installed SRM 8.2 as an appliance on my ESXi 6.5 / vCenter 6.5 environment.  When I try to log into https://FQDN:5480 for the SRM appliance I get the following error.

http://127.0.0.1:9286/sdk inocation failed with "java.net ConnectException: Conection refused"

I have tried reinstalling multiple ways but have no idea what is causing this.

Thank you

SRM 8.2 - PSC HA VIP on VVD is supported?

Hello folks,

My doubt is quite simple, does SRM 8.2 supports to point to a VIP that Load balances two PSC in vSphere 6.7? Or is it needed to point to an specific PSC?

I know this was not supported in vSphere 6.5 but I could not find anything about now.

Deleting a Replication in SRM

Hello Everyone, this might be a simple one I could not find the answer.

To migrate a VM to a new datacenter, I had Two vCenters Replicating a VM from Site 1 to Site 2 using SRM.

I used SRM to recover the VM to its new home in Site 2.

Now, I have the VM replication still configured in SRM with a "Recovered" status.

Can I just choose the VM Replication and click "Remove" to eliminate this? It will leave the recovered VM in the new site alone, correct? What do I do about the "Retain replica disks" checkbox?

I just do not want to accidentally delete the Recovered server in its new home, Site 2.

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Does anyone have any experience with using VMware's SRM to failover an Enterprise CA to a new VMware host at a different site for the purposes of disaster recovery?

A customer I am working with is keen to virtualise their entire Windows estate. While I have suggested running two Enterprise CAs, one in each data centre, the customer is unconvinced of the need for the second CA and wants SRM to manage availability.

Has anyone used this approach to provide availability for an Enterprise CA?

can the SRM support the VCenter HA

Dear Experts,

when the SRM is intergated with the active vcenter server nodes?

What will occur when the vCenter HA fail over to the standby nodes?

Does it need to reconfigure?
